Canadian Premier says he will shut off power to 1,500,000 customers in America after Trump announced new tariffs

In light of the increased tariffs imposed by Trump, Doug Ford has threatened to turn off the power to 1.5 million customers in the United States.

Immediately following the announcement of contentious new tariffs by Donald Trump, a Premier of Canada has stated that he will cut off power to 1.5 million people in the United States.

Shortly after his return to the White House in January, President Trump gave his approval to an order that imposed “catastrophic” tariffs. The purpose of this order was to “hold China, Mexico, and Canada accountable for their promises to halt the flood of poisonous drugs into the United States.

” The tariffs were imposed by placing a 25 percent tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico, and a 10 percent tariff on China.

It was indicated by the 47th President of the United States that the only “solution” for Canada to avoid the tariff is to become the “cherished 51st State” of the United States.

In a statement that was issued on Monday (March 3), the Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau, made the following remark: “Today, after a 30-day pause, the United States administration has decided to proceed with imposing tariffs of 25 percent on Canadian exports and tariffs of 10 percent on Canadian energy.

” Allow me to make it quite apparent that there is no justification for the acts that have been taken.In an announcement that was made public by the White House, it was stated that the tariffs are a part of President Trump’s “bold action to hold Mexico, Canada, and China accountable to their promises of halting illegal immigration and stopping poisonous fentanyl and other drugs from flowing into our country.”

“Additionally, illegal border crossings from Canada reached historic new highs every year for the last four fiscal years.”

Doug Ford, the Premier of Ontario, who gained a third majority last week, made the following statement during a news conference: “If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do anything, including cutting off their energy — with a smile on my face.”

“We [Ontario] keep the lights on in 1.5 million homes and [in] manufacturing in New York, in Michigan, and in Minnesota,” Ford said in an interview with NBC.

“If he wants to destroy our economy and our families, I will shut down the electricity going into the US.”

Furthermore, Ford reaffirmed his previous assertions as he was speaking at a mining convention that took place in the downtown area of Toronto on Monday.

Ford was quoted as saying, “If they want to try to annihilate Ontario, I will do everything for them, including cutting off their energy with a smile on my face.” This information was obtained from the Toronto Sun.

“They are dependent on our energy, and they require the experience of it. They want to attack us with great force, but we are going to respond with twice as much force.

He continued by saying, “That is precisely what we are going to do.”

“The provinces have a big say in it, but it’s the federal government that’s leading the charge, and we’re going to stand shoulder-to-shoulder no matter who’s in the federal government.”
